Mike Hussey named in Thunder squad for Sydney Smash

Sydney Thunder captain Mike Hussey has been named as part of a 13-man squad to face the Sydney Sixers in the Sydney Smash at the SCG on Thursday night.

Hussey has been striving to overcome a calf injury so he can play in Brett Lee’s farewell match at the SCG before what is shaping as a record crowd.

The veteran left hander will have a final fitness test before the match.

Hussey is one of four changes to the Thunder squad along with 18-year-old Jake Doran, NSW Second XI all-rounder Tim Ley and South African Cameron Delport, who replaces opening batsman Jason Roy as the Thunder’s second overseas player.

Andrew McDonald and Dirk Nannes are injured while Scott Henry is on standby for Hussey.
