Welcome to the new Bradman Junior coaching website. Don’t forget to check every two weeks to prepare yourself and your equipment for the coming season.
It is the middle of winter, but for the keen cricketer, it is still the commencement of your preparation for next season.
Three factors to consider:
1. EQUIPMENT – Will your bat, pads, gloves, footwear etc be suitable for the coming season. You probably have grown, so it’s time NOW to plan your needs and use or break in your new equipment. Check the weight of your bat is not too heavy.
2. CROSS TRAINING – Look at ways, physically, that will help you develop your game. Swimming, running, and gym work can all have a place in preparation. Be specific, look at methods that will help. i.e wicketkeepers – leg and thigh strengthening. Fast bowlers – back and stomach core strengthening. Short 25metre sprinting for ALL.
3. TECHNICAL – Analyse your technical game with assistance from your coach/ coaching videos/ books etc. Check your batting stance. As you grow sometimes you have to make changes for balance. Growth can also effect your bowling run up eg. length of stride. Be prepared NOW to experiment so that it becomes comfortable BEFORE the new season. Technical changes become harder to make in season.
