We all know someone who has been affected by a serious disease such as cancer, diabetes, obesity and mental health conditions. These diseases cause untold suffering and restrict the lives and wellbeing of countless individuals and families across our community.
The University of Wollongong is committed to improving the health of all people in the Illawarra and beyond through extensive research into the causes and treatment of serious diseases.
As part of a global research community with significant local impact, UOW research is transforming the medical and health fields as one of the top 2% of international research universities.
Stumping Serious Diseases is the University of Wollongong’s flagship fundraising event – a weekend of sporting action and excitement centred around a celebrity Twenty20 cricket match.
The match features cricket legend Adam Gilchrist and a line-up of famous personalities, all vying for the coveted Kerryn McCann Health and Medical Research Challenge Trophy.
The thrill of the day-time sports entertainment will be matched by a gala dinner at night.
