University of New South Wales paceman Chris Tremain is set to make his First class debut for the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues in their final Bupa Sheffield Shield match of the season against Victoria, starting on Thursday (8 March) at the MCG.
Tremain, 20, who took 2-32 from his ten overs in his Ryobi Cup debut against Western Australia at the WACA two weeks ago, has been in outstanding form all season, picking up 31 wickets for the University of NSW at the average of 20.29.
Tremain’s University colleague, David Dawson is also included in the squad of twelve. Dawson is the leading run-scorer in Grade cricket this season with 1057 runs at the superb average of 70.47. The 29 year-old, wicket-keeper batsman, who played 23 First class matches for Tasmania, has been the form batsman in Sydney club cricket throughout the summer.
After claiming first innings points in their match against Queensland, the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues will be hoping to end the season with an outright victory, although they will be unable to finish higher than 5th place in the competition.
