Australian Test stars Brad Haddin, Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon will remain in magenta after re-committing to Sydney Sixers, extending their stay with the Club.

While they will spend most of the summer in the green and gold, and white, of Australia, the three have signed deals with the Club that will see Haddin and Lyon remain until the end of BBL|06 and Smith until the end of BBL|05.

The International trio will only receive a call up to the Sixers should Cricket Australia allow it during a very jam packed international season, however their availability for and impact during a Champions League tournament should the Sixers make it, ensures their signatures are a valuable asset for the Club.

“While we may have limited access to these players this season, they are an integral part of the Sixers club and we are very happy to have them back on board,” said Sixers General Manager Dom Remond.

“We’ll welcome them back to the starting team whenever they are available and should we qualify for next year’s Champions League they will be very handy additions to an already strong squad.

“We’re lucky to have such depth in our club that we can have some of Australia’s best players on our roster even though we know they won’t be available for much of this summer.”

Haddin, who has led the Club in previous seasons when available, says the Sixers success has come down to maintaining a core group of players.

“The way the guys have embraced the whole concept of the Big Bash and the core group of guys who have stuck tight together, they are starting to create something special at the Sixers,” said Haddin.

“I think it’s a great exposure for first class cricketers, they get to play in front of 30,000 people and they’re also getting to play all their home games at the SCG. That doesn’t always happen so that’s one big plus that we have as a Sixers player that we get to play games on this beautiful oval.”

With the re-commitment of these players, along with a line up including Dwayne Smith, Mitch Starc and Stephen O’Keefe, the Sixers squad looks to be one of the strongest in its short history and fans are encouraged to get involved for BBL|04 with Memberships for the blockbuster season also launching today.
