Rohrer to captain NSW SpeedBlitz Blues

Rohrer takes over the captaincy duties from Stephen O’Keefe, who has split the webbing on his hand. The injury comes at an unfortunate time for O’Keefe after he took eight wickets in the previous Shield match against Western Australia at Blacktown.

It will be Rohrer’s second stint as captain after leading the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues at the start of last season.

In other changes from the previous Shield match Steve Smith and Moises Henriques are unavailable as they are heading to India with the Australian Test squad, while Brad Haddin has been rested on advice from Cricket Australia.

Into the side come Tim Cruickshank, Nic Maddinson and Josh Hazlewood. Maddinson and Hazlewood both played in the Ryobi Cup match against the Warriors at the SCG last Wednesday.

Cruickshank deserves his place after some outstanding Grade form with Manly this year, having scored 576 runs at 52.36 so far this season.

The team is :
Sean Abbott
Trent Copeland
Doug Bollinger
Tim Cruickshank
David Dawson
Josh Hazlewood
Scott Henry
Nic Maddinson
Peter Nevill
Ben Rohrer (Captain)
Chris Tremain
Adam Zampa
