Former Victorian captain, Rachael Haynes, will play her first matches for the Lend Lease Breakers this weekend when the team travels to Perth to play Western Australia in the first round of the 2011/12 Women’s National Cricket League (October 21-23).

Haynes is one of nine Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad members in the powerful NSW side. She moved to Sydney during the off-season after playing forty-eight 50-over and 21 Twenty20 matches for Victoria, including leading them to the past two National Twenty20 titles.

The full Lend Lease Breakers squad to play Western Australia is (club/region in brackets):
Alex Blackwell (Captain – Universities/Riverina)
Erin Osborne (Vice-Captain – St George-Sutherland/Central North)
Nicola Carey (St George-Sutherland)
Sarah Coyte (Campbelltown-Camden)
Rachael Haynes (Universities)
Alyssa Healy (Sydney)
Claire Koski (Campbelltown-Camden)
Sharon Millanta (Bankstown Sports)
Ellyse Perry (Sydney)
Leah Poulton (St George-Sutherland/Newcastle)
Angela Reakes (Sydney/North Coast)
Lisa Sthalekar (Gordon)

This summer, the Lend Lease Breakers will be out to secure a record breaking seventh consecutive WNCL 50 over title and their first ever National Twenty20 crown. Lend Lease Breakers captain, Alex Blackwell, said the players were itching to get the season underway. “It is very difficult to get selected in a Lend Lease Breakers team, and this was an especially difficult side to pick as we’ve had a lot of players in form with runs and wickets on the board in Grade cricket. That’s great for us and we are looking forward to a big start to the season in Perth,” she said.

The Lend Lease Breakers will play two Twenty20 matches (October 21, 2pm and October 23, 10am) and one 50 over game (October 22, 10am) against Western Australia. All matches will be held at the WACA Ground.
