The NSW Blues will welcome back Test players Mitchell Starc and Stephen O’Keefe for their day-night Bupa Sheffield Shield match against the Redbacks at Adelaide Oval starting tomorrow (Saturday 8).
Both players played one Test match each against Pakistan on the recent tour of the UAE, with O’Keefe making his Test debut in Dubai where he finished with a creditable two wickets in each innings, while Starc came in for the second Test in Abu Dhabi, where he claimed two scalps for the match.
They will take the place of Penrith spinner Patrick Jackson and Josh Hazlewood, who will be joining the Australian ODI squad.
Nathan Lyon was unavailable for selection after the recent birth of his second child.
The match is a crucial one for the NSW Blues having gone down by nine wickets against Victoria in Melbourne last week.
In that match batsman Ben Rohrer was struck in the head by a bouncer from Chris Tremain and taken to hospital for a check up, but has recovered and will travel to Adelaide with the side.
The match is the solitary day-night Shield fixture this season for the Blues, with a pink ball again being used. Playing hours for the match are 2-00pm to 9-00pm each day.
The squad is:
