Michael Lumb first overseas signing

Hampshire and England opening batsman Michael Lumb has signed to the Sydney Sixers.

Lumb, a hard hitting left-handed opener, played for Queensland in last year’s KFC Big Bash, but achieved his highest level of success when he opened the batting for England in their successful T20 World Cup campaign, where they lifted the trophy by beating Australia in the final in Barbados in May, 2010.

Lumb played in all seven matches in the tournament, scoring 137 runs at a strike rate of 141.23.

A fast scorer who is renowned for hitting boundaries at the start of the innings, Lumb is a veteran of T20, having played 103 domestic matches, where he has an overall strike rate of 143.01.
