Michael Clarke to captain NSW SpeedBlitz Blues against Western Warriors

Australian skipper Michael Clarke will captain the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues against the Western Warriors in their opening fixture of the season in the Ryobi Cup at the WACA on Sunday (16 September).

Clarke, will captain a talented side that can boast 7 players who have represented Australia at Test, ODI or T20 level, alongside some exciting youngsters who will get a chance to show their ability this season.

The squad has had a make-over with the loss of Simon Katich, Phil Jaques, Brett Lee, Usman Khawaja, Phillip Hughes, Nathan Hauritz and Timm Van Der Gugten. Despite this there is a depth of talent that will allow players such as Nic Maddinson, Scott Henry, Sean Abbott, Josh Lalor and Chris Tremain to show their wares.

The match will start at 11:15 am Perth time. Fox Sports will not be covering the match.

For the Bupa Sheffield Shield fixture against the same opponents starting on Tuesday (18th), Sean Abbott and Chris Tremain will return home to Sydney to be replaced by paceman Josh Hazlewood and batsman Daniel Hughes.
