End of Season Cricket Match

Opening Bradman Museum

Built in two stages, the first component, the Bradman Pavilion was opened in 1989 in the presence of Sir Donald and Lady Bradman.

Excerpt from Sir Donald’s speech at the opening…

“Welcome to the Bradman Museum. In my eyes the Bradman Museum has been created to honour and strengthen the game of cricket and my name is merely a catalyst to give it birth and life. I cannot do other than give it my blessing and express my sincere thanks to all those people who have worked so hard to make this dream a reality”. Sir Donald Bradman AC, 1989.

Bradman Oval underwent major works and improvements to create the picturesque international standard ground it is today.  The Bradman Pavilion houses the Player's Club Room, change rooms, meeting room and display space.

The second and more extensive component, The Bradman Museum, often referred to as 'The Second Innings' was opened on 27 August 1996, Sir Donald's 88th birthday, by the Hon. John Howard, MP, Prime Minister.

During Sir Donald's living years, the Museum operated with his full support. Today, it continues to explain, explore and celebrate the history of Australian Cricket and its' place in our Nation’s development.

Principal objectives of the Bradman Museum of Cricket:

• The Museum shall collect, conserve, research and exhibit our cricketing heritage in order to raise the public appreciation of the game and the impact it has had in the development of this country.

• The Museum shall promote cricket as a valuable cultural and sporting force within the community.
