Jaques to captain New South Wales 2nd X1

Former Australian opener Phil Jaques will captain the New South Wales 2nd X1 in their opening fixtures of the season later this week in Perth.

The teams will clash in a three-day fixture (17-19 Sept), followed by a one-day match (21 Sept). Both matches will be played at the WACA.

New South Wales will field a strong side with Jaques supported by RTA SpeedBlitz Blues spinner Beau Casson, in addition to wicket-keeper Peter Nevill and all-rounder Scott Coyte. Squad rookies Sean Abbott, Timm Van Der Gugten and Adam Zampa will also make the trip.

Two interesting additions will be Sydney University’s 22 year old middle order batsman, Scott Henry, who was Man-of-the-Match in last season’s First Grade Final with a superb 132, and North Sydney opening batsman Daniel Hughes, who scored 570 runs in First Grade last time around, at the impressive average of 51.8.
