NSW Blues batsman Jake Doran will look to impress selectors next week after being selected to play in the Futures League side to take on Queensland in a four-day match at Allan Border Field starting on Monday.
Doran, only recently completed his HSC and will have a hectic week after being selected to play for a CA X1 in a T20 practise match against South Africa at North Sydney Oval on Sunday. Doran will fly to Brisbane after the match to meet up with his NSW team-mates.
Others to get a chance in the fixture include Sydney University opening bowler Nigel Cowell, who was the leading wicket-taker in First Grade last season with 58 wickets at 13.98.
Also selected are Ryan Gibson and Nathan Sowter.
Gibson, is a 20 year-old batsman from Campbelltown-Camden who made his 2nd X1 debut two weeks ago. He is one of the form players in the competition, having started the season with scores of 115, 129 and 83no.
Sowter, is a promising leg spinner from the Blacktown club. The 22 year-old is highly rated and selectors are hoping to see him develop this season.
