Brett Lee decides not to take up a contract offer with Cricket New South Wales

Australian and New South Wales pace bowler Brett Lee has decided not to
take up the offer of a contract with Cricket New South Wales for the coming
season.

Lee, who took two wickets in Australia’s washed-out One Day International
against Ireland, has decided that given the new structure of national contracts,
it would not be fair to accept a contract from Cricket New South Wales given
the likelihood that he would be available for only a handful of one day
matches.

Lee would still play for New South Wales on a match-by-match basis, where
selected.

Brett Lee said “I truly appreciate Cricket New South Wales’ offer but given the
unique position I find myself in under the new contracting model, it makes
sense to give this opportunity to a young player. I am still very much focused
on earning a CA contract over the next two months and will continue to help
Cricket New South Wales where I can this season.”

Lee is currently on tour in England with the Australian One-Day side.
