Australian cricket team visited the Pirlangimpi community

Members of the Australian cricket team visited the Pirlangimpi community (Garden Point) on the Tiwi Islands today as part of a joint initiative between NT Government and Commonwealth Bank to take cricket to the region.

Ricky Ponting, Brad Haddin, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle made the 30 minute flight across, running a clinic with NT Government and Cricket staff and around 200 local children.

The Tiwi Islands’ brand new three team cricket competition gets underway tomorrow, running for the next eight weeks and the players’ arrival in town certainly had locals pondering whether they had the next Ponting or Mike Hussey on their hands. Visit www.ntcricket.com.au for the details.
